Of course, there are many schools in the Newington area to choose from, each with its own philosophy, training style, instructor experience level, and energy. When choosing a school, it is important to know not only what you are looking for, but also what you don't want. We strongly recommend looking at several schools and finding out what makes each of them unique and will fit your needs. While other factors are important, the single most important quality you should consider when choosing a school is the energy and connection you feel with the teachers. - EXPERIENCE: Our staff has a combined total of over 30000 hours of martial arts training and teaching. Sensei Ben has about 25000 of those hours (25 years of martial arts training and 21 years of teaching).
- CLASSES FOR ALL ABILITIES: Starting with our youngest students in the Tiny Tigers program all the way to our Adults program, we recognize that people are "works in progress" and that each individual learns at her own pace.
- SPECIAL EVENTS: We offer a variety of Seminars and other learning experiences like camps to supplement your learning, sometimes bringing in guest presenters from other martial arts backgrounds. We also host several parties each year and offer the opportunity to participate in Tournaments.
- NO SURPRISES: Unlike most other schools, Kempokan Martial Arts does not require long-term contracts, nor do we charge separate fees for testing, which can be quite expensive and you generally find out about after making a training commitment.
- A VARIETY OF CLASSES: Our classes are separated by age and skill level, so you won't find the 6-year old beginner taking class with the adult black belt. We also offer private instruction that can be tailored to your needs or interests in addition to our group lessons.
