What Makes Us Different?
Of course, there are many schools in the Newington area to choose from, each with its own philosophy, training style, instructor experience level, and energy. When choosing a school, it is important to know not only what you are looking for, but also what you don't want. We strongly recommend looking at several schools and finding out what makes each of them unique and will fit your needs. While other factors are important, the single most important quality you should consider when choosing a school is the energy and connection you feel with the teachers. Once you establish that there is a good connection, here are some things that you can look for, and which help separate Kempokan Martial Arts from other schools:

- EXPERIENCE: Our staff has a large total number of martial arts training and teaching. Sensei Bernard has about 16 years or martial arts training and 11 years of teaching.
- CLASSES FOR ALL ABILITIES: Starting with our youngest students in the Little Dragons program all the way to our Adults program, we recognize that people are "works in progress" and that each individual learns at her own pace.
- SPECIAL EVENTS: We offer a variety of Seminars and other learning experiences like camps and birthday parties to supplement your learning, sometimes bringing in guest presenters from other martial arts backgrounds. We also host several parties each year including movie nights and video game nights plus we offer the opportunity to participate in Tournaments.
- NO SURPRISES: Unlike most other schools, Kempokan Martial Arts does not require long-term contracts. Lessons are on a month to month basis thus students are not bound by long-term contracts.
- A VARIETY OF CLASSES: Our classes are separated by age and skill level, so you won't find the 6-year old beginner taking class with the adult black belt. We also offer private instruction that can be tailored to your needs or interests in addition to our group lessons.
